There are few things in life as satisfying as a cool and refreshing smoothie on a hot summer day. With summer soon approaching, here are some easy smoothie recipes sure to quench your thirst, treat your palette, and make your blender happy to be useful again!

Tropical Fruit Smoothie

Cool and Healthy 1

This smoothie is a hybrid of delicious and good for you. It’s tasty and also contains super fruits like Mango and Papaya. Mango is known as the “king of fruits” because it contains several antioxidants, Vitamin C, cleanses the skin, alkalizes the body, helps with weight loss, is rich in Vitamin A, and helps with digestion. Papaya is packed with Vitamin A, is rich in essential B-complex vitamins, and contains a large amount of potassium. Basically, it’s a win-win-win.

1 Papaya (seeded and peeled)

1 Mango (seeded and peeled)

1/3 cup orange juice

1/2 cup strawberries

5 ice cubes

Place all of the ingredients in an electric blender and mix until smooth.

For less than 250 calories, you’ll be fully rejuvenated and ready to go with this smoothie! Greek Yogurt is packed full of protein and probiotics which improves digestion and may help reduce the symptoms of lactose intolerance. The peanut butter helps fill you up and makes you feel fuller longer so that you eat less during the course of the day. (Hello there, bikini!) The peanut butter also has bone-building magnesium, muscle-friendly potassium, and Vitamin B-6. Cocoa powder contains over 700 known beneficial compounds that help protect your heart, mind, and mood. You can’t go wrong with this one.

Greek Yogurt (8 oz.)

Peanut Butter (2 tbsp.)

Cocoa Powder (2 tbsp.)

1 Banana

5 Ice Cubes

Combine the yogurt, peanut butter, cocoa, and ice cubes into a blender and mix at a high speed. Then, slice and add the banana and re-blend. Next, pour the smoothie into two cups, serve, and enjoy. Feel free to sprinkle a dash of cinnamon on the top for some extra flavor.

Chocolate Almond Smoothie

Cool and Healthy 3

For those of you with a sweet tooth, here’s the best compromise you can find that doesn’t even taste like a compromise! Almonds are power-packed with delicious nutrition. They contain antioxidants, can assist with blood sugar, contain magnesium that can help lower blood pressure, can lower cholesterol levels, reduce hunger, help with weight loss, and are high in Vitamin E. Dates are rich in calcium, manganese, and copper; have moderate levels of B-complex vitamins; serve as an excellent source of potassium and iron; and are rich in dietary fiber. And chocolate, well it’s chocolate. No complaints there.

1/2 cup dates

1/4 cup almonds

1/4 cup cocoa powder (pitted)

1/2 cup non-fat yogurt

1/2 cup boiling water

3 ice cubes

Put the dates, almonds, cocoa, and hot water in the blender and let it set unblended for 5-10 minutes. Then, add the ice and yogurt and blend.
